In 1992, as a result of consultations conducted with Indigenous communities across Australia by the CCAs in collaboration with ATSIC, the Council produced the Eight Key Issues pamphlet and a booklet about each of these issues.
Then in 1994, the CCAs assisted with consultations with Indigenous communities and organisations throughout Australia on appropriate measures to advance the cause of social justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
The result of this consultation process was a submission by CAR to the Federal Government in 1995, entitled Going Forward: Social Justice for the First Australians.
The CCA teams in New South Wales were:
Arrilla - Darren Au Young and Shelley Reys - to cover Sydney and surrounds
Orana Corp - Mick Brown and Graham Hynch - to cover western NSW.
Awabakal Corp - Ray Kelly - to cover the Hunter region and the NSW North & South coasts.
In early 1994 CAR contracted Australians for Reconciliation Co-ordinators (AFRs) in each State and Territory to promote reconciliation in the wider Australian community.
For the next eighteen months, until mid 1995, the CCAs and AFRs worked closely together, and from then on amalgamated under the banner of Australians for Reconciliation Co-ordinators.
